St Nick Comes Tonight!

I cannot even tell you how excited I was to watch St. Nick fill the stockings tonight!  We opted out of the St. Nick stockings last year because Sylvia was too little to care about a stocking, but this year?  This year we have no furniture in our living room, but darn it, we hung our stockings tonight, wrapped them in garland, and propped up a tree in the corner!  I've been trying to explain St. Nick to Sylvia and I think she sort of, kind of, gets it a little bit, but she'll definitely get it tomorrow morning when she sees her stocking full of goodies!  Here's a sneak peek:

Mama and Daddy got a few treats, too.  You know, because that's how St. Nick rolls.

Until I went to college, I didn't know that St. Nick is only a Catholic thing.  As a matter of fact, it might only be a Northern Kentucky Catholic thing, but whatever.  I'm happy to participate in any gift-giving festivities!  Happy St. Nick Day, everyone!

I've never heard of this. Do your stockings get filled again on Christmas morning?

I love St. Nick because he makes Santa Clause have more purpose. We have a wonderful children's book that explains the true story and how St. Nick shared Jesus' love through giving gifts with others and became known as Father Christmas. We don't give the kids gifts from Santa Clause but we don't have to be "against" him becuase St. Nick gives meaning to why they see Santa everywhere. One more reminder of what Christmas is really about!
