Preschool Thanksgiving Dinner and Performance

We were late.  Like, really, REALLY late.  Construction...traffic....tail lights as far as the eye could see.  All I had was Miss Maria's email address, so as we sat there going NOWHERE I emailed her out of desperation, hoping she would wait for us.  10 minutes....15 minutes.....I pulled my car up to the front doors and Maria came out to tell me we hadn't missed it yet.  I was SO relieved I almost cried.  I didn't know what I was going to tell Sylvia if we had missed the show.  I'm sure the waiting families were cursing us under their breath and I probably looked like the world's most frazzled mom as I swooped in and grabbed a seat on the aisle. But all I could think about was how grateful I was for Miss Maria and a preschool staff that waits for the last kid to get there.

Once the singing started, Margot was enthralled with the kids up front, so she got really quiet just in time!  I didn't record the 4/5 year olds singing because I didn't want to run out of space on my camera, but they were TOO CUTE!  Then the 3 year olds sang "Hello Mr. Turkey" which Sylvia has been practicing for weeks.  I thought that would be all, but then...

The pledge.  I died.  Visions of Uncle Evan poured through my head.  The tiny voices, messing up all the words....I've never seen anything so sweet!  Next came the big finale - the prayer!  You can bet we'll be using that one at home from now on.  What a sweet, sweet night for us, hopefully to be followed by many more.  There's just nothing better than watching kids sing.  Nothing.
